In this short article, I’ll explain you a betting system that works with Roulette, Blackjack and other casino games like Baccarat. It was invented by a French mathematician about 200 years ago. As his name was D’Alembert, the system is referred to as the “D’Alembert Betting System”.

Different to the Martingale System, you do not double your bets, but you increase or decrease them just by one unit.

Let’s assume that you play Blackjack and start with a $5 bet. If you win, you keep betting $5. When you lose, you increase your bet by one unit to $10. If you lose again, you increase your bet to $15 and then to $20, $25, $30 and so on. And each time you win, you reduce your bet by $5. So it’s a bit like hiking up a mountain as long as you lose, and then walking down as long as you win.

This betting system is great fun to play, but you should set yourself a limit of the highest maximum bid. And because when you win you keep playing with high bets (after a losing streak), the bets may remain high while you can only win low amounts. That’s why this isn’t my favorite betting system, I prefer to play with the Anti-Martingale System when playing games of chance.
