How to Play Blackjack in 3 Minutes

Blackjack is a simple, but thrilling game. I’ll explain you in a few words the basic principle of the game, so that you can start playing in just a few minutes.

Value of the Cards

Blackjack is played with the standard casino cards, ranging from 2 to 10, followed by Jack, Queen, King and Ace.

Each number card has the value printed on the card, so the “6” has a value of 6 for example.

The face cards Jack, Queen and King have a value of 10.

The Ace has a value of 1 or 11 (you can choose its value).

How to Play Blackjack

So let’s start playing. First, you place a bet, for example $10. Your goal is to have 21 points or less, but more points than the dealer. Now you get dealt two cards, and the dealer gets dealt 2 cards as well, showing you one of them.

Now you must add up the value of your cards and decide whether you want to “hit” (get another card) or “stand” (keep your cards and do not receive more cards). You can “hit” as long as you want, but the closer you get to 21, the riskier it gets. If the value of your cards is 22 or more, you are “bust” and have lost that round.

Once you decide to “stand”, wait until the dealer has taken his cards (he usually must follow the rule “Dealer must stand on 17 and must draw to 16”) and then compare your points with the value of the cards of the dealer. If you have more points (but less than 22), then you win. If the dealer has more points, then the casino wins. If it’s a tie, you keep your initial bet.

That’s it! This sounds pretty simple, doesn’t it? Well, there are more advanced plays and strategies, such as taking “insurance” or doubling up if you have twice the same card, but I’ll talk about this in a later article.

For the moment, I suggest that you take action right now by playing Blackjack at the play money tables at the Jackpot City Casino (that’s where I usually play).

Good luck!
