Let’s have a look at some Blackjack variations. I personally like Blackjack because, compared to Roulette, it has some strategic touch. Playing with the correct strategy increases your odds of winning and reduces the edge of the casino. Remember that in European Roulette, the house edge is 2.7%, while in Blackjack with the perfect strategy its below 1.0%.

Atlantic City Blackjack

This Blackjack variation originates, who wonders, from Atlantic City. It is very similar to the normal Blackjack. It’s played with eight 52-card decks which are shuffled together before each new hand. This means that card counting becomes impossible. As with the standard Blackjack, the dealer stands on a soft 17.

When hitting blackjack, the payout is usually 3:2.

Compared to the normal Blackjack, it’s possible to double down on any two-card hand. In this case, a bet can be doubled for a single additional card. Compared to other variations, “surrendering” is not possible, but a player can still buy “insurance” when the dealer shows an ace. If the dealer hits blackjack, then the insurance pays out 2:1.

European Blackjack

European Blackjack is played with six card decks, which are shuffled before a new hand. So again, card counting is not an option here.

It’s possible to double down on any two-card hand. This means that a bet can be doubled for one single additional card.

Unlike in other variations of Blackjack, “surrendering” is allowed. This means that a hand consisting of two cards can be surrendered for getting half of the wager back (there is one exception to this. When the dealer has an ace, surrendering is not possible).

Multi Hand Blackjack
